This Is What Hormone Healing Actually Looks Like 🌙
how we took our client from bloat, pelvic pain, and exhaustion to regular cycles, confidence, and ease
Let me introduce you to “Jane”
Jane was dealing with:
heavy periods
chronic pelvic pain
skipped periods
alternating diarrhea and constipation (with a side of bloat)
exhaustionnnnn regardless of sleep
and when she went to doctors, she was given the standard responses:
you can try the hormonal bc pill
your blood work looks normal so just eat well and stress less
you prob have hashimotos, we’ll just put you on a thyroid med
hmmm you can always try a weight loss medication?
Now, let me just say—Jane wasn’t your average gal. Which meant those surface-level answers? They weren’t going to cut it.
She wasn’t okay with a quick prescription and no explanation.
She wanted to understand what was going on.
She craved real answers. The root cause.
She wanted to feel at home in her body—not confused by it.
She wanted to move through life with ease, confidence, and clarity.
Above all, she wanted a way to care for her unique body in a way that was sustainable, not just another short-term fix.
and so we got to work….
and now? we’re here:
SUPPORTING THE THYROID INTENTIONALLY
We knew that Jane’s thyroid needed some support.
She had trialed different thyroid medications and nothing was realllllyyyy moving the needle. When she came to us, she was on a thyroid med but her labs still looked like:
Very high TSH
Very high TPO
Sodium and potassium depletion (think: potassium is the thyroid sensitizer)
High magnesium demand
Trending mercury
So what did we do?
We brought in lotssss of high quality potassium sources and mineral drinks
We used intentional supplementation with selenium, iodine, inositol to help support the thyroid
We got rid of the gluten (yes, important for most with autoimmune thyroid considerations)
Limited fluoride and mercury sources (which can interfere with the thyroid)
Got real about stressors
We recommended she look into a different thyroid med, and slowly start on a low dose of synthroid (cause yes, sometimes medication is key)
and in a few weeks, her levels started to normalize. Now?
🌱 TSH, T4 and T3 are all within normal optimal limits
🌱 Energy came up and cycle started to regulate
🌱 Thyroid antibodies came down
🌱 Sense of ease in knowing how to support herself (+ hair, skin and nails were feeling better)
pst. synthroid was super helpful here! But we did a trial of her coming off some of the supplements we recommended, and her antibodies shot back up even with the better suited thyroid medication. It was a great reminder that conventional medicine 🤝 holistic health
GOING FROM BLOATED → REGULAR BMS
But her thyroid was just a piece of the puzzle.
Jane also had bloating, constipation, GI pain, and loose stools - with no real explanation as to why
And we don’t go around guessing here or go off of standard recs (no, not everything is fixed with just water and fiber)….
So we ran a GI-MAP and found:
H pylori: which causes upper GI pain and issues with digesting nutrients
e coli infection: which causes stomach cramps, loose stools, and other GI issues
parasite presence: essentially ^ditto
high zonulin: which indicates a potential leaky gut picture and inflammation
not only that, but we also ran a little at home stomach acid test and found her stomach acidity was looooowww
and low stomach acid = belching, indigestion, bloating
so what did we actually do to move the needle here?
We eradicated H Pylori: given the severity of the results, Jane opted for a combo of both antibiotics and herbal support (we love a girlie that knows she can do both ✨)
Think: s. boulardii, cruciferous veg, chewing food slowly, daily green tea, mastic gum, DGL
We worked on digestion and stomach acidity: which is a combination of sloowwwinnnnggg down while eating and utilizing tools like bitters and digestive enzymes (short term)
Supported antimicrobial support + and easing inflammation in the gut: gut issues and thyroid issues got hand in hand. So we worked on bringing in calming supplements like L-glutamine, retinol rich food sources (like sardines), and specific tea while limiting triggers like alcohol and gluten
Got real about how frequently she should be eating/how much: long period of time without food = irritated stomach = heart burn, cramps etc. We worked on consistent meal timing that worked for HER body
and now?
🌱 bloating has become a rare event
🌱 gut pains/ cramps are gone
🌱 regular bowel movements (no more days on end with constipation)
CYCLE REGULATION RETURNS
Okay now the final piece of this work was around her cycle
See hormones are actually pretty high up on the order of operations
at the base we have: minerals, food consistency/diversity/abundance, stress support and nervous system regulation, sleep
then from there we have: digestion and detox pathways
then we have: thyroid and adrenal health
then we have: sex hormones and cycle support
Because without those previous steps, sex hormones are going to be tricky to move
But this client was also facing:
irregular and skipped cycles
night sweats before her period
painful cramps lasting 3+ days
and when we ran a DUTCH test we saw that:
Both estrogen and progesterone were on the lower end
Estrogen was quite a bit higher than progesterone, leading to an “estrogen dominance” picture
Dysregulated cortisol
So a big part of this work was on supporting lifestyle habits like, stress reduction, daily routines, healthy fats, etc.
But also by bringing in intentional foods and supplements: like getting consistent with daily ground flax, utilizing valerian root and vitex, and cod liver oil
and while this is the final area we’re still working on, she’s had:
🌱consistent cycles for 5+ months now
🌱got cramping down to 1/2 day (onset of bleed)
🌱 stopped the night sweats!!!!
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:
Jane’s story is a reminder that real healing rarely comes from quick prescriptions or one-size-fits-all advice—it comes from slowing down, tuning in, and honoring the full picture.
Her journey wasn’t linear or perfect. It wasn’t about chasing symptom relief in isolation.
It was about asking why—why the bloating, why the fatigue, why the irregular cycles—and following that curiosity all the way down to the root.
We didn’t just throw supplements at her symptoms or slap on restrictive protocols. She built a foundation: nourishing her minerals, healing her gut, regulating her nervous system, supporting her thyroid, and getting to know her patterns and body responses.
And with each layer, her body began to respond—with more ease, more clarity, and more trust.
Now, Jane has the tools and knowledge to care for herself long-term. She’s not living in fear of the next flare-up or confused by what her body is trying to tell her. She’s walking through life with a deeper sense of connection, confidence, and calm.
And it all started with the decision to stop settling for “you’re fine” and start digging for the real answers.
If you see yourself in Jane’s story—if you’re tired of feeling dismissed, frustrated, or disconnected from your body—know this: you’re not alone, and you’re not broken. There is a path forward.
If you’re ready to take the dive, we’re here to help
