The long awaited matcha recipe — right to your inbox
If you’ve been following me on the ‘gram for a while now, then you know that matcha has my heart 🤍
When I ditched the coffee a few years ago, I knew I still needing a lil something something
cause is a morning routine even a morning routine if it doesn’t have a warm beverage?
answer: we discovered it was a resounding no 😂
so we’re diving into benefits, sourcing and the matcha recipe below 👇
Why Matcha?
In the realm of wellness beverages, matcha stands out.
Derived from finely ground green tea leaves, matcha has garnered attention not only for its distinctive flavor but also for its potential health-promoting properties.
so what makes it so special?
Matcha is not just any ole’ green tea
it's a concentrated form of green tea that involves shading the tea plants for several weeks before harvest.
This process boosts the chlorophyll and amino acid content, particularly L-theanine, which is responsible for matcha's unique calming effect.
The combination of caffeine + L-theanine = a gentle energy boost with a sense of calm and focus.
Unlike coffee, where caffeine absorption can lead to rapid spikes and crashes in energy levels, the presence of L-theanine in matcha results in a more gradual release of caffeine.
This smooth energy curve supports sustained alertness but also reduces the likelihood of caffeine-induced anxiety or agitation.
but it does waaayyy more than just that:
contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which can module estrogen levels, support skin health, and even PCOS
has chlorophyll, a natural detoxifier that helps rid the body of toxins and impurities. By supporting the body's natural detoxification processes, chlorophyll in matcha contributes to clearer, more radiant skin from within.
can support blood sugar stability and insulin sensitivity
a quick note: you don’t have to switch to matcha. This is what works best for me. If you want to know more about why I switched to matcha and ditched the coffee, check out the articles below; however, you need to do what works best for you, your taste preferences, diet, lifestyle, etc.
How Do I Pick The Right Matcha?
okay okay okay if you’re immediately just like “Amanda, matcha taste = dirts” I feel you
but can you believe me when I say it’s probably just because you’re either making matcha wrong or picking out the wrong matcha
high quality matcha = gentle, subtle, earthy
poor quality matcha = acidic, bitter, dirt-like
While we’re covering you on the recipe part of things, but make sure you’re actually making this recipe with the right kinda matcha….
Bottom line, your matcha should be:
ceremonial grade (this is a NON-NEGOTIABLE! culinary grade is not gonna taste great)
single origin
organic
bright, vibrant green that is thin in texture

okay okay so now what you’ve been waiting for….

Add in water/milk mixture to blender
Blend on high until smooth
Start sipp’n babe
pro: you’ve got the easiest, creamiest matcha without any mess
+ if you’re sussed out by adding a hot beverage to a blender, you can always do it in reverse. Blend it all first, then heat it up
